OFFICIAL RULES
1. NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT NECESSARY TO ENTER OR TO WIN.
2. Am I Eligible To Participate? Subject to the additional restrictions below, the AARP “Florida Gothic” Photo Contest (the “Contest”) is open to residents of Florida who are eighteen years of age or older at the time of entry. Employees of AARP Services, Inc. (“Sponsor”) and its affiliated companies, and advertising and promotional agencies, and the immediate family members of, and any persons domiciled with, any such employees, are not eligible to enter or to win. The term “immediate family members” includes spouses, parents, grandparents, siblings, children, and grandchildren.
3. How Do I Enter? The Contest will begin at 5:00 p.m. (E.T.) on July 2, 2007 and end at 4:59 p.m. (E.T.) on August 3, 2007. To enter, send an email with your name, mailing address (including street address, city, state and zip code) and photo title (optional) to flaarp@aarp.org and attach your digital photograph. Digital photographs must be in .jpg, .jpeg, or .gif format. Alternatively you may upload your image to www.aarpflorida.org/Photo_Contest/ or submit a printed photo to AARP Florida ATTN: “Photo Contest” 400 Carillon Parkway, Suite 100, St. Petersburg, FL 33716. The photograph you submit must be an original photograph for which you own the copyright or have secured the right to distribute without restriction. Limit one (1) entry per person, per email address, per week. The Contest will consist of one (1) Grand Prize winner and one (1) Second Place. Honorable mentions will be given out to a select group as well. Sponsor will not be responsible for incomplete, lost, late, misdirected or unreadable entries or for failure to receive entries due to transmission failures or technical failures of any kind, including, without limitation, malfunctioning of any network, hardware or software, whether originating with sender or SponsorSponsor reserves the right to disqualify any entry that does not comply with these rules, that is alleged to infringe on any third party’s intellectual property rights, or that Sponsor deems obscene, offensive, or otherwise inappropriate for viewing by a general audience. By submitting a photograph in a Contest, you agree to be bound by all of the terms and conditions of these Official Rules, including the grant of rights set forth in Paragraph 5, below; if you do not agree with these terms and conditions, do not submit an entry.
4. How Will Winners Be Selected?
The Contest will consist of one (1) Grand Prize winner and one (1) Second Place. Honorable mentions will be given out to a select group as well.
Grand Prize Winner. After July 6, 2007, all photos will be reviewed and scored by a panel of judges on the basis of creativity, composition, and photo quality. One (1) Grand Prize Winner will be chosen from all photographs submitted. The Grand Prize Winner’s photograph will also be displayed online at www.floridaagingnews.org as well as www.aarpflorida.org. Grand Prize judging will be conducted by the Sponsor and the Contest judges appointed by Sponsor, whose decisions shall be final and binding in all respects.
5. How Will AARP Use The Photo I Submit? The Sponsor will post your photograph on www.aarpflorida.org. If your photograph is selected as the Grand Prize Winner, your photograph also will be featured on www.floridaagingnews.org. Accordingly, by submitting a photograph in the Contest, you acknowledge and agree that Sponsor shall have the right (without limitation or further compensation to you) to edit, adapt, modify, reproduce, publish, promote, display and otherwise use your entry in any way it sees fit, including the right to publish your entry online and in print, as described herein.
6. What Could I Win? The Grand Prize Winner will receive a $100.00 gift certificate to a restaurant chosen by the Sponsor, in consultation with the Winner. The Second Place Winner will receive a $50.00 gift certificate to a restaurant chosen by the Sponsor. Due to the limited availability of certain restaurant in certain areas, the Winners will have the opportunity to recommend a restaurant.
7. When Will Winners Be Notified? The Grand Prize Winner will be notified by email and/or by phone (at the email address/phone number from which his or her entry was submitted) on or about July 9, 2007. Sponsor’s inability to reach a winner, the return of any prize notification as undeliverable, a winner’s failure to timely respond to prize notification, and/or a winner’s failure to comply with any term or condition of these Official Rules may result in that winner’s disqualification, the forfeiture of his or her interest in all prizes, and the selection of a substitute winner.
8. What Other Terms Apply? Winners may waive their right to receive a prize. Prizes are nonassignable and nontransferable. No substitutions or cash equivalents allowed by winners. Prizes are subject to availability and Sponsor reserves the right to substitute prizes of equal or greater value. Winners are solely responsible for reporting and payment of any taxes on prizes. Except where prohibited, participation in the Contest constitutes each contestant’s consent to the publication of his or her name, likeness, city and state of residence and biographical information in any media, including without limitation the Internet, for any commercial or promotional purpose, without limitation or further compensation. Prizes not won and claimed by an eligible winner in accordance with these Official Rules will not be awarded and will remain the property of Sponsor. By participating, entrants agree to be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of Sponsor and Contest judges designated by Sponsor. Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify persons found tampering with or otherwise abusing any aspect of this Contest as solely determined by Sponsor. In the event the Contest is compromised by a virus, non-authorized human intervention, tampering or other causes beyond the reasonable control of Sponsor which corrupts or impairs the administration, security, fairness or proper operation of the Contest, Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to suspend, modify or terminate the Contest. Should the Contest be terminated prior to the stated expiration date, Sponsor reserves the right to award prizes based on the entries received before the termination date. The invalidity or unenforceability of any provision of these rules shall not affect the validity or enforceability of any other provision. In the event that any such provision is determined to be invalid or otherwise unenforceable, these rules shall be construed in accordance with their terms as if the invalid or unenforceable provision was not contained therein.
9. Who Is The Sponsor? The AARP “Florida Gothic” Photo Contest is sponsored by AARP Florida. The decisions of Sponsor and the Contest judges designated by Sponsor regarding the selection of winners and all other aspects of the Contest shall be final and binding in all respects. Sponsor will not be responsible for typographical, printing or other inadvertent errors in these Official Rules or in other materials relating to the Contest.
